We've built our studios from the ground up knowing that HD would soon take over, and it has. We've been doing surround mixes since 1998 and have worked on HD shows for over 3 years now. With the purchase of Sony's top of the line HDCAM SR deck, Stewart Sound will be helping to bring HD to the masses .

The Sony SRW-5500 is the newest video recording deck in Sony's professional line of Betacam decks and is Sony's first dual format recorder. Switchable between Sony's HDCAM and HDCAM SR record formats, this new VTR provides an ideal solution for professionals requiring multi-format flexibility. And yes, it will even playback a Digibeta tape. Capable of recording 23.98/24/25/29.97/30PsF, 1080/50i/59.94/60i, and 720/59.94P, the SRW-5500 was created to meet all common worldwide delivery requirements. It records using MPEG 4 and with our implemented expansion boards, it can do 4:4:4 and real time format conversion. It also can handle all flavors of HD and has a capacity for twelve 24-bit 48k audio tracks, which is enough room for a surround mix, a stereo mix, and stems. Star Wars III : Revenge of the Sith and the new Superman movie were shot on HDCAM SR as well. It truly is the wave of the future.

These new additions to our studio will help bolster HD post-production in the O.C. and offer our clients an ideal environment to layback both their video and surround audio mixes to HDCam SR, the most advanced HD tape format. So how will this benefit you? Now production professionals can shoot in HD or transfer your film to HDCam SR (a much higher quality than DigiBeta) and then downconvert at our studio to hard drive or DigiBeta for the edit using our new Final Cut Pro HD and Avid compatible bay. Once everything is complete, we can then lay-off or dub your project to either HDCAM SR, HDCAM, DigiBeta, BetaSp, or DVD.
